Dance Class options




Ballet

 Ballet is the foundation of all dance. It builds technique and develops musicality. Student will be able to build a vocabulary and understand correct use of terminology. Ballet increases students technique, flexibility and strength. Teaches correct posture, placement and line while building core stability through repertoire. It is highly recommended that students take at least 2 hours of ballet per week.









Jazz Dance

 A fun energetic modern style of dance. Performed to current hit music. A vibrant, upbeat, strong style of dance using body isolations, kicks, turns and jetes. A very popular style of dance at EDC. Classes available for ages 2+.

In jazz class students will be taught a fun new routine each week exploring different styles of Jazz from Broadway fosse style to the more modern funk jazz. It is highly recommended that jazz student also take stretch and conditioning as well as leaps and turn as these classes are more focused. 











Acrobatics dance class

Acrobatics

Depending on the skill level, students will be taught tricks from a bend back and recovery to a back handspring. Students are taught contortsion to increase flexibility and aid in front walk overs and back walk overs. Students will train strength and balance using different apparatuses to do so, such as a box or chair. Students will be taught partner work developing trust and strength in each other. Acrobatics is a rewarding and enjoyable class. Brooke is one of WA’s best acrobats so you can trust your child is getting the best tuition.  It is recommended students taking Acrobatics also take Stretch and Conditioning. 

Beginner  - No Pre-requistes. 

Intermediate  - Straight over, Bend Back kick over, Round Off

Advance Acrobatics - Can back flip and Side Aerial.

Lyrical Dance

Lyrical dance combines jazz and ballet techniques to create an expressive free flowing movement. A graceful way for dancers to explore many different types of emotions through dance. Grace, sophistication, strength and beauty rolled into one. Our students love lyrical dance.

 












Contemporary Dance

 
Contemporary dance combines elements of ballet and jazz but in a non traditional way. It encourages dancers to push the boundaries of their art form and find self -expression through story telling.









Tap Dance

ap Dance is a form of dance class characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Tap dancings helps develop musicality and rhythm. Students can participate in annual exams in which they will learn amalgamations, theory, and a tap dance. Tap dance has become more popular due to such performance companies as tap dogs. 

 













Stretch & Conditioning

 

Just like any other sport dancers need to be at their peak physical condition. We use Calisthenic Exercises to increase body strength and flexibility. Calisthenics is a natural form of exercise with simple movements using your body weight as resistance. We don’t believe in using weights because muscle mass built from using weights restricts flexibility and movement.  Stretch & Conditioning helps students to be aware of their body, create strong supple lean bodies.  This class is highly recommended to all dancers. 

 








Leaps & Turns 

 

This class focuses purely on developing the ability to master all turns from a single pirouette to a quadruple pirouette and more.  Students will learn new combinations each week comprising of both leaps and turns.  This class helps students to turn faster and produce more continuous turns, leap higher and create higher and newer limits. This class is advantageous to any students taking any of the above classes!!







 

 


Aerial Silks & Lyra

A display of strength and beauty. Aerial acrobats performed in the air on either an aerial Lyra (as pictured) or aerial silks. We offer both these apparatuses to our students. You will learn to climb, wrap, drop, balance and slide safely guided by our experienced and qualified instructors.











Hip Hop Dance

Is a street dance style that is performed primarily to hip hop music. It includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking and popping. Often involving you to freestyle.
